Gotta check this out. If it works, I gotta few books i wanna grab.
Wow, thanks becky. I checked it out, and I got 5 of Steeven King's books. I've never read anything from him, but I've heard he's really good. It will let u download 5 books at a time, and they are in .DOC or .TXT formats. I've started reading "christine". Thanks again Becky. He does not have any dean Koontz and he only has one patricia cornwell book, and no J.K. Rowling, for anyone who reads those authors. Mike.
That's great. I'm glad you found it useful. I get the impression this site will be updated with more books regularly, so keep checking.
Hopefully it will, it sounds like a great alternative to Bookshare. I have a Web Braille account, but they don't have a lot of new books.
It's a nice website though, I downloaded a book but adobe reader won't open it for some reason, not sure if it's the version I have.
Oh, they're in pdf format? I don't like trying to use Adobe with Jaws, so I think I'll stick with Web Braille.
Not the ones I got, they were in .Doc and .txt formats.
really, so they are in different formats?
mmhmm at least i'm pretty sure they are.
Ooeoh! this sounds grate! too bad about the coontz books though.
yeah this is a cool website. It's cool that you can just download books and it is that simple. I am sure I will use this a lot, especially since I am starting college in the spring.

i'll have to check this out
OK, i was going to just start a new topic, but since this one is all ready hear....
I was wondering if anyone might no of a webcite wair i could get free audio books??
I don't think their is one. U could always gie torrents a shot, and se if u find any.
Thanks becky, this site is awesome.
hi there, most of the books on this site that fall under fiction, are in TXT format. As for the PDF, you can easily convert them to plain text files by either using adobE acrobat or other tools that are available. There is one designed by jamal called "PDF converter" and you can get it by going to his site:
www.nonvisualdevelopment.org
it is under open source projects.
Can somebody tell me if any of the books on this site work on the braillenote?
I use a Pac Mate Bx with a braille display, so I'll be trying this site out very soon. Pac Mate also has a PDF to text converter that works really well. You will need Active Sync to install it. It's at: www.braillesoft/pacmate.htm
What happened to book serve? They use to have tuns of audio books and described movies.
i'll check this site out! sounds awesome!
wow! this site is great! found a load of books i want! shame jaws hasn't got much expression though.
Lol that is the site I downloaded Rebecca from! Battle*Queen, I have an external hard drive which is able to hook up to my Braille note. However, if you have a compact flash card and a compact flash card reader, that works too! All I had to do was hook up my hard drive and copy the file onto my Braille Note, and that's how i read it! It works far better than trying to read on computer, since I prefer Braille, anyway! I like that site, and I dont delete, I just copy and paste and there it is! Isn't it great?
Man. I love audio books so much, but its so hard to get all the books you want. I used to say I won't read any books with jaws but, I do it now. its a shame everything isn't as easy in audio though. I like the sight though. thanks
if you live in the state of Tn there is a website called reads for audio books it is ran by the public libraries in Tn you are basicly checking books out and it will take them off your computer when the time is up but if you put them on a mp3 player it cant the
the link is www.reads.lib.overdrive.com it is prety easy to use and I absolutely love it
To bad there isn't something simular; or not that I know of, in other states.
i'll check this site out
Overdrive and Net Library are both available from public libraries in most, if not all states. Contact your local public library and find out. Here in Columbus where I live, both are available. But smaller libraries in smaller cities usually offer one or the other. You have to have a library card, but once you get one and learn how to use either netlibrary or overdrive, you can download any book they have and listen to them without ever having to go to the library.
Net library is useful especially for accademic texts - nverseen audio on there though
Isn't there a site where one can download books that are in MP3? Because what I gather from this is that this site only gives you books that are in .doc/pdf/txt formats.
theres a site called librivox which has audio books in mp3, they are all read by volunteers, and sometimes different people read each chapter, but it is free, and you download each chapter in mp3 individually. its good, if you don't mind different people reading chapters.
the link is.

hope some of you find it useful.
